The 2013 Domaine Clape Cornas is considered by some to be the wine of the vintage, showcasing the classic Clape style. This 100% Syrah wine, from prime Cornas terroirs, is fermented whole-cluster and aged for 22 months in mostly ancient foudre, with no new oak ever used. The 2013 vintage in the Northern Rhône generally produced mineral-driven, structured wines with vibrant acidity. Expect classic Clape notes of beef blood, cold steel, liquid rock, pepper, and saddle leather, alongside plum and boysenberry fruit, olive tapenade, and graphite. The palate is juicy with bright acidity, fine, long tannins, and flavors of dark berry, liquorice, and sarsaparilla. It's described as tight, intricate, and layered, with impressive density and depth. While not as long-lived as some blockbuster years, it promises incredible pleasure over 10-15 years. 【 A monument of the vintage 】.
🍴 Food Pairing: This robust Cornas pairs beautifully with lamb, red meat, and game.
🥂 Event: Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party or a special occasion where a powerful, age-worthy red wine is desired. It's also an excellent choice for a serious wine tasting, showcasing a benchmark Northern Rhône Syrah.
