FEATURES
The 2019 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge showcases a sunny, spicy, and Provençal style, retaining incredible freshness. Domaine Charvin, situated in the cooler, northern part of the appellation, sources its grapes from limestone-rich soils in areas like Cabrières, Maucoil, and l'Arnesque. The winemaking is staunchly traditional: largely un-destemmed grapes are fermented and aged for 21 months exclusively in concrete tanks, then bottled unfiltered. This organic wine is known for its ability to age gracefully for two decades, yet it's also approachable in its youth with a bit of breathing time.
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers ripe and almost opulent aromas of plum and blackberry, intertwined with notes of old balsamic vinegar and a savoury character. Expect Provençal herbs, morello cherries, and that distinctive hint of medicinal sweetness characteristic of Grenache. On the palate, it's full-bodied and concentrated, with a silky, refined texture and fine tannins that give way to waves of spiced strawberries, smoked meats, and cracked black pepper. Red and black fruits, garrigue, ground pepper, spring flowers, and incense complete the aromatic and flavour profile.
🍴 An excellent match for lamb. Community suggestions also include BBQ beef, braised short rib, burgers, casseroles, and stews.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special family gathering, or as a superb addition to your cellar for future enjoyment. 【 Organically grown, traditionally made, and capable of aging for two decades 】
