FEATURES
The Carillon family's roots in Puligny-Montrachet stretch back to 1520, and Jacques Carillon is renowned for crafting mineral-driven, deliberately understated white wines. The 2018 vintage in 布根地 (Burgundy) was warm and generous, with successful winemakers like Carillon picking early to preserve crucial acidity. This particular wine is a blend from eleven small parcels across seven sites, with vines averaging around forty years old, farmed with near-organic rigor.
This Puligny-Montrachet reveals hints of pear, wheat toast, blanched almonds, and white flowers. It is medium-bodied, open-knit, and elegantly textural, with a delicate, moderately concentrated core of fruit and a distinctive saline finish. Some critics note an intense, gravelly/flinty nose, reminiscent of a cooler vintage, and a well-balanced palate with an intense opening and a touch of creaminess. It's described as ripe, fresh, and zesty, with a bouquet of peach, lemon, chalky soil tones, spring flowers, and a hint of vanillin oak. The palate is full-bodied, ripe, and succulent, with good soil signature and bright acidity. Aromatically, it's riper than its 2017 counterpart, with a whisper of exotic white and yellow orchard fruit, including a hint of passion fruit. Common tasting notes also include oak, butter, vanilla, citrus, lemon, lime, apple, pear, green apple, minerals, stone, honey, toast, brioche, and almond.
This wine is drinking beautifully now and has excellent aging potential, with recommendations to enjoy it from 2020 through 2033, and even up to 2040+. 【Jacques Carillon is celebrated for his mineral-driven, deliberately understated style, allowing the pure limestone terroir of Puligny-Montrachet to shine through.】
