Lucien Le Moine, Batard Montrachet Grand Cru, 2018
The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was somewhat turbulent, marked by a lack of soil moisture and a poor fruit set, which led to diminished harvest volumes. Despite these challenges, Lucien Le Moine, known for their traditional, hands-off winemaking approach with long élevage and minimal sulfur, crafted compelling wines. The Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from 2018 is described as full-bodied, rich, and powerful, offering intense aromas and flavors of almonds, apple, white flowers, and spices, with incredible length. Burghound noted a slightly fresher and less exotic nose with subtle apple cider influence and more floral aromas, leading to delicious, relatively refined, and vibrant mid-weight flavors with a very dry, tightly wound, and sneaky long finish. This wine is acknowledged as one of the world's greatest whites, capable of aging for decades.
Food pairing suggestions include rich appetizers and elegant main courses such as foie gras, lobster, and scallops. It also pairs well with fish dishes, white meat, and blue or goat cheese.
This Grand Cru is perfect for significant celebrations, milestone anniversaries, or a sophisticated dinner party where a truly exceptional white Burgundy is desired. It's a wine that demands attention and contemplation, making it ideal for special occasions. 【From the terroir which sets the world standard for the finest Chardonnay wines】
