The 2024 vintage in Chablis presented challenges, yet William Fèvre's Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru has emerged with promising reviews. Despite a severe growing season, the winery managed a respectable yield for an organic producer. Winemaker Didier Séguier noted the scarcity of berries on each stalk in the Preuses vineyard, a Grand Cru site known for its shallow soil and south-easterly exposure, which typically yields fine, delicate wines with remarkable ageing capacity. The wines are currently undergoing maturation, with a portion in barrel and the remainder in tank.
This 2024 Chablis Grand Cru displays a bright, luminous, pale yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose is elegantly complex, revealing notes of ripe citrus, candied lemon, white peach, pear, and white flowers, alongside mineral nuances of chalk, flint, and a subtle salinity, with delicate aromas of fresh almond and hazelnut. Some critics also detect hints of citrus, petrol, quinine, salt water, and algae. On the palate, it is round, silky, and perfectly balanced, offering a rich and structured body supported by exceptional mineral tension. Flavours of white-fleshed fruit, citrus, and lightly toasted notes express themselves with precision over a saline and chalky backbone, culminating in a precise, palate-staining, massively long, and perfectly balanced finish. 【A Grand Cru Chablis from a challenging 2024 vintage, showcasing exceptional mineral tension and remarkable aging capacity.】
