FEATURES
The 2015 Jacques Frederic Mugnier Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale is considered a terrific success for the vintage, often compared to the excellent 2005 rendition. It opens with aromas of creamy cassis, ripe cherry, dark chocolate, and grilled squab. On the palate, it is deep, full-bodied, and sapid, with succulent acids, rich tannins, and excellent length. Other notes include blackberry, chocolate, and licorice, showing the ripe side of the vintage with plenty of lift, or wilder notes of black raspberry, black cherry, leather, and game. The wine is seriously structured and finishes with very fine-grained tannins. 【A terrific success in a great vintage, reminiscent of the excellent 2005】. This is one of the rare instances of a great Burgundy from a great domaine available in some volume. While it can be enjoyed now, many suggest it needs further aging to fully develop its nose and soften its tannins, with decanting recommended for earlier consumption.
Food Pairing: This Nuits-Saint-Georges pairs wonderfully with grilled squab, given its aromatic profile. It's also an excellent match for steak, game, and other rich red meats. The wine's structure and fruit characteristics would complement dishes featuring mushrooms, truffles, or earthy elements.
Event Suggestions: Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion with discerning wine lovers, or a vertical tasting of Jacques Frederic Mugnier wines. It's also a fantastic choice for a gourmet meal where a robust and elegant red Burgundy is desired.
