FEATURES
The 2014 vintage in 布根地 (Burgundy) was challenging but ultimately yielded many excellent wines, particularly for reds from the Côte de Nuits where Gevrey-Chambertin is located. While hailstorms severely impacted the Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits was less affected. The growing season saw a warm, dry spring followed by slow maturation, with good September weather allowing for a leisurely harvest. The 2014 reds are described as having a 'classic' character – refined and concentrated without being overly rich, offering freshness for early enjoyment but also possessing the structure for long-term cellaring. Gevrey-Chambertin, in particular, performed well, producing perfumed, medium-bodied wines with bright cherry fruit and a balanced palate.
This Fourrier Gevrey Chambertin Les Goulots 1er Cru 2014 presents a very well-defined bouquet with a subtle marine influence alongside red and black fruit notes. It blossoms beautifully in the glass, revealing a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and a crisp, well-structured feel, culminating in a saline finish with a hint of tobacco. Critics have lauded it as very regal and possessing the substance to age. While initially reserved, it promises to be equally fine with sufficient bottle age, showcasing a red fruity mélange of blood orange, cherries, limestone soil tones, woodsmoke, raw cocoa, and a floral topnote. On the palate, it is full-bodied, pure, and tangy, with excellent focus and grip, and a long, moderately tannic finish, suggesting it will truly shine after a decade in the cellar. Expect notes of cherry, raspberry, red fruit, earthy undertones, minerals, leather, oak, vanilla, and tobacco. 【Regal, age-worthy expression of Gevrey-Chambertin's terroir】
