FEATURES
Pierre Girardin, the 13th generation of his family to craft wine in Burgundy, launched his own domaine in 2017 at just 21 years old and quickly became a rising star. His "Éclat de Calcaire" (burst of limestone) Bourgogne Blanc is a prime example of his talent and distinctive style. This 100% Chardonnay is sourced from over 45-year-old, organically farmed vines in Meursault (80%) and Volnay (20%). Pierre-Vincent utilizes custom 456L barrels to minimize new wood influence, aiming for purity, precision, and a clear expression of terroir.
The 2020 vintage showcases bright minerality, fresh white peach, wet stone, lime zest, and lemon thyme, with a balanced fruit and acidity profile. Tasters have noted fresh acidity, agrumes, peach, melon, lingering lemon and lime, nutty notes, crushed rock, and flintstones. Some describe it as fresh, lemony, and grapefruity with appealing leesiness and a distinct chalky note, presenting a tight, nervous palate with decent acidity, characteristic of a contemporary, reductive style.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions include steamed halibut with broccoli, cauliflower, and oyster mushrooms. It also pairs beautifully with other white fish, shellfish, goat cheese, or light poultry dishes, complementing its bright acidity and minerality.
🥂 This wine is an excellent choice for those seeking a vibrant, mineral-driven white Burgundy from an acclaimed young producer. Its quality often rivals wines at twice the price, making it a superb value for discerning palates. It's suitable for sophisticated dinners, gatherings with wine enthusiasts, or as an impressive aperitif.
