FEATURES
The 2018 Bibi Graetz Colore is a standout vintage, celebrated for its exceptional quality and harmonious balance. The growing season in Tuscany was notably mild and stable, with ideal weather conditions, especially in late September, featuring sunny, dry days and cool, fresh nights that contributed to the grapes' purity. Colore, Bibi Graetz's flagship wine, is crafted from very old Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino vines, rooted in unique Tuscan soils of sand and stone. Grapes are meticulously hand-picked up to eight times from three distinct vineyards—Lamole, Vincigliata, and Siena—to ensure optimal ripeness. The wine undergoes fermentation with indigenous yeasts in open-top barriques, followed by malolactic fermentation in new barriques, with each parcel aged separately for nearly three years.
This red wine offers delicate and enticing aromas of plum, vanilla, crushed mint, and fragrant blue flowers. On the palate, it reveals savory and focused flavors of Marasca cherry, orange rind, mocha, and licorice, with some critics noting wild blackberries, tobacco leaf, fresh thyme, blood orange zest, and mineral undertones. It boasts an elegant structure, impressive depth, taut, polished tannins, and fresh acidity, culminating in an astonishingly long finish. 【Rated 99/100 by James Suckling, who hailed it as "the best ever with incredible depth and focus."】
🍴 Food Pairing: This bold and structured red pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as beef and venison.
🥂 Event Suggestions: The 2018 Colore is a wine built for the long haul, capable of cellaring for decades. If you're keen to enjoy it in its youth, a two-hour decant is highly recommended to allow its complex layers to unfold. It's a perfect choice for a contemplative evening or a special occasion where you want to savor a truly exceptional Tuscan expression.
