FEATURES
The 2020 vintage in Burgundy saw an early harvest, with some starting as early as August 16th, ensuring full phenolic maturity of the grapes. Dry conditions prevailed, meaning fruit arrived at the winery in perfect health, and Chardonnay yields were excellent, close to average. Wines from this vintage, particularly whites, are noted for their richness of fruit, akin to 2019, but with enhanced brightness and freshness, drawing comparisons to the 2017 vintage. A superb level of acidity provides backbone and intensity, with fruit flavors leaning towards white fruits and floral notes rather than exotic ones. Domaine Morey-Coffinet, under the thoughtful and detailed approach of Thibault Morey, has embraced biodynamic viticulture since 2014, achieving certification in 2015. His white wines are celebrated for expressing the very essence of Chassagne-Montrachet, characterized by fragrant aromas framed by powerful minerality. The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru En Remilly from Morey-Coffinet showcases impressive depth and freshness on the nose, presenting a tight ball of energy and remarkable clarity of flavor. It offers a slowly mouth-watering experience with a considered yet long finish, culminating in a distinct mineral note. 【Powerful minerality and elegant complexity】
This wine presents a light yellow color with a nose of apple, hazelnuts, and pear notes. On the palate, it is impactful, revealing white minerals and fine, tight primary fruit that seamlessly transitions into a long finish, offering a grand yet delightfully fruity experience. Other notes include layered aromas of sliced citrus, green apple, and mineral reduction, with a super-sleek and succulent, notably denser medium-weight body. It is impeccably well-balanced and almost aggressively stony, with a beautiful yellow-gold color and a lively, clear bouquet. Expect notes of white fruits, flowers, dried fruit, cream, butter, and a slight smoky nuance.
🍴 This elegant white Burgundy pairs beautifully with pan-seared scallops, roasted chicken with a creamy mushroom sauce, or a delicate fish like turbot. It also complements aged Comté or Gruyère cheese.
🥂 Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a celebratory anniversary, or a special tasting event to appreciate its evolving complexity. Its promise of great aging potential (2028-2040) also makes it an excellent candidate for cellaring.
