FEATURES
The 1985 Jacques-Frederic Mugnier Bonnes Mares Grand Cru holds a special place as it was Frédéric Mugnier's first vintage at the helm. Mugnier's Bonnes Mares Grand Cru wines are celebrated as some of Burgundy's finest Pinot Noirs, benefiting from rich, deep limestone soils that yield fleshy and full-bodied wines. This particular wine is noted for its earthy character, mineral nuances, and solid structure. It combines characteristics from both Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis appellations, offering firmness and earthiness from Morey, and fruit and berry aromas from Chambolle. These wines are often reserved and more taut in youth, showing their best with time spent in bottle. 【A Landmark Vintage: Frédéric Mugnier's Debut】. Given its age, this wine embodies the old wine style, offering complex tertiary aromas and a delicate, evolved palate. Expect a wine that has gracefully matured, showcasing nuanced layers rather than primary fruit exuberance. Food Pairing: This savory and classic Pinot Noir is an excellent match for duck, goose, and game birds. Event Suitability: This 1985 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is ideal for a truly special occasion, such as a milestone anniversary, a significant birthday celebration, or an intimate gathering of serious wine connoisseurs. It's a wine to be savored and discussed. Serving Advice: For a wine of this venerable age, careful handling is paramount. The cork may be fragile, so use a Durand opener or a two-pronged ah-so cork puller. Decanting is recommended for about 30-60 minutes to allow any sediment to settle and the wine to gently open up, but avoid excessive aeration which can diminish its delicate older notes. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 15-16°C (59-61°F), to best appreciate its evolved complexities.
