FEATURES
The 2011 Lodovico from Tenuta di Biserno is a highly acclaimed vintage, emerging from a spectacular season that concluded with a warm and dry September. This particular vintage showcases the remarkable potential of Cabernet Franc, which constitutes 90% of the blend, thriving in the Upper Maremma region. Lodovico is considered the jewel of the Biserno estate, produced only in years with optimal harvest conditions from a specific, small individual parcel, resulting in a limited production of approximately 6,000 bottles per vintage. Critics have lauded its great finesse, especially considering the otherwise torrid 2011 vintage, describing it as a firm, sexy red with a full body, ultra-fine tannins, and an intense, lingering finish. The 2011 was a textbook year with almost perfect conditions during spring and most of the summer.
This wine presents a rich, impenetrable ruby-purple color. The nose is pure and precise, offering a basket of dark berry fruits, notably blackberry and blackcurrant, alongside aromas of graphite, plum, cedar, blue flowers, and tobacco. On the palate, it is precise with taut, finely textured tannins, building in layers to a dense core of dark berry fruit and a finish of rich dark chocolate. The structured palate also reveals notes of blackberries, licorice, clove, and a toasted character, all supported by velvety tannins. Some tasters noted an initially unctuous and mouth-filling character with ripe complex fruit, though it was observed to recede quickly.
Food Pairing: This robust red pairs exceptionally well with beef and venison. It also complements a selection of French, Swiss, and Italian cheeses beautifully.
Event Suggestions: The 2011 Lodovico is a "restaurant cracker" of a wine, brilliant with dishes like risotto ai funghi, roast venison, or Welsh Rarebit. Its depth and elegance make it ideal for a special celebratory dinner, a sophisticated gathering, or for contemplative sipping. 【Limited production of approximately 6,000 bottles per vintage from a specific, small individual parcel】
