FEATURES
The 2017 Julian Haart Wintricher Ohligsberg Riesling is celebrated as a stellar and magical dry wine, showcasing the exceptional quality of the vintage. Julian Haart employed a unique method, using a small basket press that processed only ten kilograms of grapes daily, resulting in beautifully pure juice. This wine hails from vines planted in 1921, contributing to its very limited production and distinctive character. Mosel Fine Wines awarded it 94 points, highlighting its harvest at a refreshingly low 85° Oechsle and fermentation to bone-dry levels. Vinous gave it 92 points, while James Suckling praised its sleek silhouette and diamond-bright finish.
On the nose, this Riesling is aromatically superb, offering a complex bouquet of lemon, apple, smoky overtones, a hint of currant leaf, and distinct salty soil tones. Further exploration reveals lime peel, peach kernel, white flowers, mint, candied citrus, and herbs. The palate is crisp, full-bodied, and remarkably precise, with a fine core, excellent mineral drive, ripe acidity, and a very long, zesty, and complex finish. It presents a firmness of feel, radical dryness, pronounced piquancy, and an undertone of wet stone, culminating in a penetrating finish with refreshing juiciness, animating vibrancy, and saliva-liberating salinity. 【 From vines planted in 1921 with very limited production, crafted with a small basket press for beautifully pure juice 】
