FEATURES
🏰 Since the 17th Century, Château Margaux has been recognized as one of the greatest wines in the world, owing its unique qualities to its exceptional terroir and generations of passionate work. The 1993 vintage in Bordeaux was challenging, marked by cool temperatures, rainy periods, and reduced sunshine, which slowed grape ripening. Despite these difficulties, Château Margaux produced a remarkable wine, demonstrating its ability to excel even in less favorable years. While the vintage generally has a mixed reputation, some bottles, particularly magnums, have proven to be utterly delicious and stylish, showcasing proper, serious Bordeaux. It presents a medium to dark ruby red color with a slight tawny rim, indicative of its age. The bouquet is complex and evolved, characterized by subtle aromas of 【dried red fruits like cranberries and cherries, interwoven with blackcurrant, dried flowers (especially violet and a hint of lavender), tobacco, undergrowth, and cedar wood】. On the palate, the wine displays an elegant structure with fine tannins and moderate acidity, offering a medium-bodied profile with finesse. It can reveal a bright, red, sweet, and fresh core of red berries, earth, and leafy forest characteristics, along with notes of graphite, chalk, mineral, spice, and grippy structure.
🍴 Excellent with poultry, lamb, beef, and game.
🥂 Perfect for a milestone anniversary, a sophisticated dinner, or a contemplative tasting for a connoisseur appreciating a mature First Growth.
Serving suggestion: For this mature 1993 vintage, expect an old-world charm with developed tertiary notes. The cork and capsule might be fragile, so open with care. Decant for 1-2 hours to allow it to soften and open its perfume, or just enough to remove sediment. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
