FEATURES
The 2009 vintage for Burgundy, particularly for red wines, was generally considered very good, offering ripe fruit and good structure. Domaine François Lamarche's Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2009 is a testament to this, known for its power, mineral structure, and flavor, in a true 'Vosne' style. This wine comes from three separate parcels within the Clos Vougeot vineyard.
Tasting notes for the 2009 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru reveal lovely sweet fruit aromas combined with subtle mineral notes. The palate unveils layer upon layer of flavor, with incredibly silky tannins coated by rich dark fruit flavors. Expect wood spice and pungent earth notes that add breadth to the ripe and largely red fruit-based nose. It is a wine of real depth and class, with mentions of earthy notes like forest floor and leather, alongside raspberry and red fruit.
Given its age, this 2009 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is entering a beautiful drinking window, but as with all older wines, handle with care. The cork might be fragile, so a Durand opener or similar tool is recommended. Decanting for 30-60 minutes can help the wine open up and shed any sediment, but be mindful of its age to avoid over-aeration. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
🍴 Food Pairing: This mature Grand Cru Burgundy is an exquisite match for classic French dishes such as roasted game birds, beef bourguignon, or delicate lamb preparations. It also pairs wonderfully with truffle dishes and aged hard cheeses.
🥂 Event Fit: The 2009 François Lamarche Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is perfect for a celebratory dinner, a special anniversary, or a sophisticated tasting among Burgundy enthusiasts. Its age and complexity make it a truly memorable experience. 【Depth, class, and Vosne-style power】
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
