The 2024 vintage in Meursault, while still very early, is already showing promising signs despite a challenging growing season marked by capricious weather, heavy rain, and mildew. Chardonnay, the dominant grape, fared better than Pinot Noir, with a more successful flowering and less impact from mildew. Top producers in Meursault successfully navigated these obstacles, yielding wines that promise both seductive fruit aromas and a structure suitable for aging. Early reports characterize the 2024 vintage as fresh, precise, and elegant for whites, with a well-crafted structure and strong aromatic expression.
Specific tasting notes for Bernard Bonin Meursault Les Narvaux Dessous 1er Cru 2024 are not yet available due to its future vintage status. However, general expectations for Meursault 2024 whites suggest aromas of acacia and subtle vanilla, leading to a round palate with notes of white peach, a zesty touch of lemon, and a beautiful mineral finish. The vintage is anticipated to be fresh and tasty for reds and elegant for whites, with its balance to be defined during the barrel aging process. 【An eagerly anticipated future vintage from Meursault, showing early promise of elegance and freshness.】
🍴 While specific pairings for this future vintage are speculative, based on general Meursault characteristics, it would likely complement prawn cocktail avocado, grilled sea bass, veal stew in a cream sauce, or Beaufort cheese. Its anticipated freshness and elegance will make it versatile.
🥂 As a future vintage, the Bernard Bonin Meursault Les Narvaux Dessous 1er Cru 2024 is primarily for collectors interested in securing a promising early release or for long-term cellaring. It represents an exciting opportunity to follow the evolution of a new vintage from a respected producer, making it a fascinating addition to a wine enthusiast's collection or a thoughtful gift for those who appreciate the anticipation of fine wine.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Bernard-Bonin is a wine producer based in the town of Meursault, in the Côte de Beaune sub-region in the heart of Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Most of the winery's vineyards are located in the Meursault region, many of which are First Cru level, and it also owns some plots in neighboring Puligny-Montrachet. The estate produces only white wine, almost exclusively Chardonnay. In 1998 the domaine was taken over by husband-and-wife team Nicolas Bernard and Véronique Bonin, who manage 7 hectares (17 acres) of vineyards, including plots of Meursault's Genevrères and Charmes Premier Crus. Bernard-Bonin uses biodynamic methods and the estate has been certified organic since 2015.
