🏰 The 2021 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc de l'Orée is a highly acclaimed white Hermitage, crafted from 100% Marsanne grapes grown in the clay soils of the Les Murets lieu-dit. The 2021 vintage, while challenging climatically, yielded a wine of remarkable quality. It's described as refined, textural, and vibrant, with immense restrained power. Tasting notes reveal a complex bouquet of white flowers, stone fruits, quince, chalky minerality, dried lemons, quince peel, grilled almonds, white peaches, wet stones, wild herbs, and a hint of honeyed peaches and ripe apricot. The palate is medium to full-bodied, round, supple, and balanced, with a long, succulent, baked lemon character and a refreshing, briny finish. It's a brilliant effort, particularly given the vintage. 【A refined and powerful expression of Hermitage Marsanne, showcasing remarkable balance and depth】.
🍴 This full-bodied white wine, with its rich texture and complex aromatics, pairs beautifully with rich seafood dishes like grilled lobster with crystallized lemon, monkfish tail with piment d'Espelette, or cod loin with hollandaise sauce. It also excels with poultry, especially those prepared with creamy sauces or mushrooms, such as chicken with morel mushrooms, or even scrambled eggs with truffles.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a celebratory meal, or as a luxurious gift for a white wine connoisseur. While drinkable now, it is best from 2025 onwards and has excellent aging potential, with some suggesting it can be held until around 2030 or even 2041. Decanting for several hours is recommended if opening young.
