FEATURES
🏰 The 1987 Taylor's Late Bottled Vintage Port comes from a vintage that, while mixed globally, saw favorable conditions for Port production, with hot weather, high sugar readings, and good color extraction. This LBV is now fully developed and deliciously complex. It presents a deep garnet color with slow-forming tears. The nose offers intense notes of dried fruits like apricots, raisins, and prunes, alongside milk chocolate and earthy undertones. On the palate, it's lusciously sweet with medium acidity and a high alcohol content. Flavors of dried fruits, sweet spices such as clove, vanilla, and nutmeg mingle with hints of chalk, walnuts, and plums, leading to a pronounced and lingering finish with silky tannins. While some notes from 2009 described it as still young and brooding, needing more time, it has since evolved into a rich, round, and complex wine. 【Fully developed and deliciously complex Late Bottled Vintage Port from a renowned producer, offering a rich and round experience】.
🍴 This mature LBV Port is a classic pairing for chocolate and caramel desserts. It's an excellent match for goat's milk cheeses like fresh Valençay or Sainte-Maure, where its ripe fruitiness merges with the tangy cheese. Also superb with a rich chocolate mousse, chocolate profiteroles, or dark chocolate desserts, especially those with red fruits. Walnuts, blue-veined, and other richly flavored cheeses, as well as dried fruits like apricots or figs, are also excellent accompaniments.
🥂 At 39 years old, the 1987 Taylor's Late Bottled Vintage Port is at its peak and not suitable for further aging. It's a contemplative drink, best savored sip by sip, slightly chilled. This wine is perfect for an after-dinner indulgence, a special occasion with dessert, or a quiet evening by the fireplace.
Serving Advice: For a wine of this age, careful handling is paramount. The cork may be fragile, so a Durand or Ah-So opener is highly recommended. Decanting is advisable to separate the wine from any sediment, but do so gently and immediately before serving to preserve delicate aromas. Stand the bottle upright for at least 24-48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
