FEATURES
🏰 The 2003 Château Mouton Rothschild hails from an exceptionally hot vintage across Europe, a heatwave summer that led to an early harvest. Despite the challenging conditions, the deeply-rooted vines at Mouton Rothschild thrived, producing healthy, richly coloured, and tannic grapes, resulting in a wine of exceptional ripeness and concentration. This First Growth Bordeaux presents a deep, almost impenetrable crimson or intense garnet hue. On the nose, it offers opulent aromas of blackberry, cassis, and graphite, intertwined with notes of cedar, liquorice, exotic spice, caramel, stewed fruit, and a subtle hint of chocolate. Further aeration reveals cigar box, jammy black raspberry, mint, ash, and tobacco. The palate is dense, layered, rich, and powerful, with velvety, stylish, and well-rounded tannins. Flavours of ripe black plum, spice, Havana cigar, and eucalyptus lead to a very expressive, long, powerful, harmonious, and silky finish, balanced by good acidity. Robert Parker rated it 95-96/100, calling it a "true giant from Pauillac" and advising patience, with a drinking window extending to 2040-2050. Jeff Leve also awarded it 96/100. Hervé Berland, the producer, even compared it to the legendary 1982 for its richness and concentration. This is a dramatic, opulent wine with a radiant personality, making it a prime candidate for serious collectors. 【A "true giant from Pauillac" from the challenging 2003 heatwave vintage, showcasing exceptional ripeness, concentration, and a powerful, opulent character built for decades of aging.】 Serving Advice: For a wine of this age, careful handling is key. Stand the bottle upright for at least 24-48 hours before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decanting for at least an hour is highly recommended to allow the wine to breathe and fully express its complex aromas and flavours, though some prefer longer decanting for older vintages. Be mindful of the cork, which may be fragile; use a Durand or an Ah-So opener if available. Serve slightly below ambient room temperature (around 16-18°C). 🍴 This magnificent Mouton Rothschild is perfectly suited for grand culinary experiences. Pair it with roast rib of beef with a rich red wine jus, herb-crusted rack of lamb, or mature, hard cheeses. It also complements roasted meats or hearty vegetable dishes. 🥂 An exceptional choice for milestone celebrations, significant anniversaries, or a prestigious corporate event. Its profound structure and longevity make it a collector's gem, ideal for a vertical tasting or as the centrepiece of a truly memorable occasion.
