FEATURES
🏰 From a Monopole vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, the 2020 Nicole Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru is an elegant and structured Pinot Noir, showcasing the finesse of its exceptional terroir. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy was largely considered excellent despite tricky conditions, benefiting from favorable climatic conditions that provided ripe grapes with an excellent balance between freshness and concentration.
【Deep ruby red with purple highlights, the nose offers complex aromas of ripe red fruits, subtle notes of undergrowth, delicate spices, and a slight floral touch, with hints of Asian pekoe tea and sandalwood. The palate is elegant and structured, showing a fine balance between freshness and concentration, with fine, silky tannins and a persistent, elegant finish. Expect ample red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, with fine minerality and a pinch of sour cherry and brown spices.】
🍴 This Grand Cru pairs excellently with matured beef fillet, herb-crusted rack of lamb, aged Époisses cheese, or pan-seared foie gras with black Périgord truffles. It also complements duck, goose, and other game birds. For an elevated Asian pairing, consider Cantonese roasted squab or a delicate Japanese wagyu beef.
🥂 Ideal for an important business meal, a wedding anniversary, or a special gathering among friends who appreciate fine wines. Decanting for 1 to 2 hours is recommended for this young vintage to fully reveal its aromas.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
