FEATURES
🏰 The 1994 Burgundy vintage was a modest year, marked by heavy September rains that led to lighter colors and sometimes a dry mid-palate in some reds. However, premier and grand cru vineyards, especially on well-draining slopes like those in Vosne Romanée, often fared better, producing wines with an 【attractive, fragrant style of fruit and notes of small black fruits】. These reds typically exhibit an elegant texture with soft, mouth-filling tannins.
🍴 This mature red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roasted duck or guinea fowl, earthy mushroom risottos, or a selection of mild, aged cheeses.
🥂 Perfect for a quiet, reflective evening with fellow Burgundy enthusiasts, appreciating the journey of a mature wine. It's a testament to the resilience of a challenging vintage. Given its age, this wine is best served at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Decant gently to remove any potential sediment, but be mindful of the wine's delicate nature and fragile cork. Enjoy it with care and reverence.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
