FEATURES
🏰This 1986 Francois Lamarche Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru is a 【rare and profound expression of aged Grand Cru Burgundy】, offering a complex tapestry of tertiary aromas and a testament to the longevity of exceptional Pinot Noir. Domaine François Lamarche is a prestigious Burgundy producer, known for its Grand Cru wines, including Grands Echezeaux. Grands Echezeaux is one of Burgundy's most esteemed Grand Cru vineyards, producing Pinot Noir wines of exceptional complexity, elegance, and longevity. The 1986 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered a challenging year, but top producers could still craft good wines. Older Grands Echezeaux wines, especially from a reputable producer like Lamarche, would typically display a complex bouquet of dried red fruits, forest floor, truffle, leather, and exotic spices, with a silky texture and a long, ethereal finish. The primary fruit notes would have evolved into more savory and earthy tertiary characteristics.
🍴A mature Grand Cru Burgundy like this would pair exquisitely with classic French cuisine such as coq au vin, beef bourguignon, roasted duck with cherry sauce, truffle dishes, or delicate game birds. It also complements aged Comté or other firm, nutty cheeses.
🥂This venerable 1986 Grands Echezeaux is a wine for a truly momentous occasion, a significant anniversary, or a highly anticipated tasting among serious Burgundy connoisseurs. It's a wine to be savored slowly and thoughtfully.
For a wine of this age, extreme care is needed. Stand the bottle upright for at least a week to allow all sediment to settle. Decant very gently and slowly, just before serving, to separate the clear wine from any sediment. Avoid excessive aeration. Serve at 16-18°C (60-65°F). Be prepared for a very fragile cork; a two-pronged Ah-So opener or a Durand is highly recommended.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
