🏰 Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz is a showcase of warm climate Australian Shiraz, known for being ripe, robust, and generously flavored. First produced in 1959, Bin 28 is named after the famous Barossa Valley Kalimna vineyard, though today it's a multi-region, multi-vineyard blend with Barossa Valley always well represented. The 2018 vintage experienced relatively dry conditions and warm, sunny weather, providing optimal conditions for flowering and fruit-set in South Australia's viticultural regions. This vintage received 90+ points from almost every critic and was listed as #41 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2020. 【Penfolds Bin系列中最早的酒款之一,展現溫暖氣候Shiraz的經典風格與卓越品質】
Deep purple in color with a short purple rim. The nose offers eclectic fruit aromas from spiced red fruits to red plums, through blue fruit to darker blackberries and plums. Also notes of cooked plums, figs, spices, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, peppercorn, ripe berries, and mocha. The palate is dry and very fruity with medium acidity, showing impressively layered flavors. It's big, extracted, rich, with fine tannins, and a nice finish with bitter herbs. It's full-bodied, with dense and chewy tannins, blueberry, dried cherry, date, and candied ginger flavors.
🍴 BBQ meats. Also pairs beautifully with a juicy steak. Its robust profile would also complement lamb, rich stews, or strong cheddar cheeses.
🥂 This powerful and flavorful Shiraz is excellent for barbecues, casual gatherings with friends, or a hearty family dinner. Its robust character makes it a crowd-pleaser and a great companion to rich, savory dishes. It's still young and will drink better in 5 years, but good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Decanting for 2 hours is recommended for the fruit to come up.
