🏰 The 2001 Trapet Chambertin Grand Cru is a 【masterclass of very well-made Pinot at the highest level】. This mature Burgundy Grand Cru offers musky, wild aromas of raspberry, game, animal fur, chicory, and roast coffee. On the palate, it is silky-sweet, very rich, and full, with firm minerality providing an impression of energy. The finish features building but fine tannins and lingering smoky flavors. Other notes reveal an evolving bouquet of espresso roast, dried cherry, and fallen leaves, framed by minty new oak, with a sweet, medium to full-bodied, and ample palate. The 2001 vintage in Burgundy was generally good, and this wine shows a captivating juicy coolness and well-integrated acidity.
🍴 This complex and evolving Pinot Noir is ideal with rich, earthy dishes. Think roasted game birds like pheasant or duck, venison stew, or a classic coq au vin. For a luxurious pairing, consider truffle-infused pasta or a mushroom risotto. Mature, earthy cheeses such as Époisses or Comté would also complement its savory notes.
🥂 This wine is at its peak or entering a beautiful drinking window, making it perfect for a celebratory dinner or a serious tasting with fellow wine connoisseurs. Serve at 16-18°C (61-65°F). While some suggest consuming in the near term, others believe it has another 10+ years of life ahead, so enjoy it now or cellar for further evolution.
