FEATURES
🏰 The 2023 Bourgogne Les Grandes Gouttes from Domaine Rougeot is a "super-regional" Chardonnay, sourced from a lieu-dit just below Meursault-Charmes 1er Cru, offering 【fresh energy and pinpointed precision】. The 2023 Burgundy vintage was notable for both quantity and quality, with generous yields. Despite being the hottest year on record, the best whites are concentrated and ripe yet taut, with bright acidity, providing charm, ripeness, and early drinkability. This wine displays a gorgeous, expensive yellow color. The nose is fresh and subtle, with white acacia flowers, fresh almonds, a hint of zest, fresh citrus (lemon zest, grapefruit), white peach, orchard apple, and a distinctive flinty, gunflint minerality. The palate is vibrant, showcasing multiple layers of fruit from leaner apple through fresh yellow plums. It embodies a "new-wave Meursault" style, prioritizing tension and energy over richness, yet maintaining a generous mid-palate fruit. It finishes with fine length, beautiful pinpointed precision, and saline, chalky notes.
🍴 This versatile Chardonnay pairs beautifully with cured meats like prosciutto, delicate scallops in a creamy sauce, or fatty fish such as salmon. It's also excellent with light appetizers, poultry, or fresh goat cheese.
🥂 Perfect for 【early drinking, casual gatherings, or as an elegant everyday wine】. It benefits from about 15 minutes of decanting when young. Optimal drinking window is from 2027-2033.
