🏰 The 2022 Burgundy vintage is proving to be excellent, with both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir performing beautifully. Despite a hot and dry summer, timely rains and cool nights helped maintain freshness and acidity, resulting in wines with an abundance of colour, flavour, and vibrancy. Rougeot's Monthélie "Les Toisières" 2022 is a white Burgundy (100% Chardonnay) from a charming appellation, often considered a 'cousin of Meursault'. It offers a refined bouquet of white flowers, ripe citrus fruits, pear, melon, apple, and fresh young hazelnuts, complemented by subtle mineral notes and a hint of brioche. The palate is elegant yet powerful, with a creamy texture, lively acidity, and a lingering mineral finish. The wine is vinified like a Meursault, with long maturation in oak barrels (no new oak) to express its terroir. 【An elegant and terroir-driven white Burgundy offering excellent value】.
🍴 This versatile white Burgundy pairs perfectly with shellfish like lobster and prawns, rich fish dishes such as pan-seared turbot or sea bass, chicken in cream sauce, creamy mushroom risotto, and mild, soft cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for sophisticated lunches, informal dinners, or as an aperitif. It's a wine that can be enjoyed now with a 35-minute decant or aged until 2026-2027 for further complexity.
