Andre Et Mireille Tissot, Arbois Vin Jaune En Spois, 2018
🏰【A truly unique and aristocratic wine, the 2018 Andre et Mireille Tissot Arbois Vin Jaune En Spois embodies the distinctive "yellow wine" tradition of Jura, aged under a veil of flor yeast for over six years.】 From a highly respected biodynamic producer, this Vin Jaune from the specific "En Spois" vineyard offers a profound expression of its terroir. While the 2018 vintage was warm, the extended aging process under flor largely shapes its singular character.
On the nose, expect captivating aromas of walnuts, almonds, curry spices, and green apple, often with subtle hints of truffle and a profound savory complexity. The palate is remarkably dry and powerful, with piercing acidity and a long, intensely nutty, and mineral-driven finish that lingers beautifully.
🍴 This extraordinary wine is a perfect match for traditional Jura cuisine, especially aged Comté cheese, chicken or fish in a Vin Jaune cream sauce (Coq au Vin Jaune), and dishes featuring mushrooms or walnuts. Its unique profile also makes it an intriguing pairing for rich curries.
🥂 Ideal for adventurous wine enthusiasts, special gastronomic experiences, or as a sophisticated accompaniment to a cheese course. It's a conversation starter that offers a taste of Jura's ancient winemaking heritage.
BACKGROUND
Domaine André et Mireille Tissot (now run by their son Stéphane Tissot) is a pioneering biodynamic estate in the Jura region of France. Stéphane is renowned for his innovative and terroir-focused approach. Vin Jaune ('Yellow Wine') is Jura's most famous and unique style, made from Savagnin grapes and aged under a veil of yeast (voile) for over six years. 'En Spois' is a specific single vineyard. This Vin Jaune is extraordinarily complex, offering intense aromas of walnuts, curry spice, dried fruits, and a piercing, saline acidity that allows it to age for decades.
