🏰 The 2020 Domaine Denis Mortet Echézeaux Grand Cru hails from an early ripening year in Burgundy, characterized by high temperatures and sufficient water reserves, leading to small grapes with thick skins. Harvested under sunny skies in early September, the vintage produced powerful wines with excellent maturity and perfect pH levels. Arnaud Mortet employs partial destemming for his Grands Crus, and the wine is aged for 18 months in barrels, 70% new. Tasting notes describe a wine full of rich fruit, bright and beautifully balanced, with sophisticated tannins and a long, pure finish. It also reveals nuances of coffee foam and spice, contributing to an elegant texture. 【Powerful and beautifully balanced Grand Cru from an outstanding vintage】.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions include duck, goose, and various game birds.
🥂 This wine is a promising candidate for cellaring, offering plenty of freshness and ripeness, making it ideal for special occasions or as a significant addition to a fine wine collection.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Denis Mortet is located in northern Burgundy and is famous for producing high-quality Pinot Noir wine. It is produced in a modern style and has a delicate taste. The domaine currently occupies 11.2 hectares (27 acres) and has also purchased part of the Le Chambertin Grand Cru vineyard. The winery was founded in 1956 when Charles Mortet purchased a hectare of vineyard and began selling fruit to merchants. Mortet's son Denis and his wife Laurence started working at the estate in 1978 and took over and established Domaine Denis Mortet in the early 1990s.
