🏰 The 2018 vintage in Napa Valley is lauded as one of the most flawless seasons ever seen, marked by a long, ideal growing season and a beautifully slow-paced harvest, which contributed to ripe yet integrated wines. Winemaker Robert Hunt even considered 2018 to be his favorite vintage in two decades. This Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 16 months in French oak. Wine Advocate has praised Anderson's Conn Valley, stating that it "represents the greatness of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon".
This wine pours a deep garnet-purple color. The nose offers enticing scents of crushed black currants, blackberry pie, and stewed plums, complemented by suggestions of bay leaves, pencil lead, clove oil, and tobacco leaf. Floral black aromas, cassis, cedar spice, and violets are also present, alongside plum, boysenberry, blackberry, and baking spices like cinnamon, vanilla, and a light toasted character. On the palate, it bursts with fresh, crunchy black fruits, supported by a firm, grainy frame and bold freshness, leading to an herbal lift on the finish. It is plush with blackberry fruit and cassis, with hints of licorice, black olives, and savory herbs. The wine is smoothly textured, with a fine balance of tannins and acidity, offering juicy, red-fruited flavors of cherry, raspberry, and currant. It presents a medium-bodied, elegant, and lively style with an herbaceous edge, and notes of black cherries, dried rosemary, potpourri, and dark chocolate. Firm, slightly chewy tannins contribute to its structure. 【 Winemaker's favorite vintage in two decades from a flawless Napa season 】
🍴 This robust Cabernet Sauvignon is an excellent companion for hard cheeses and red meats. It pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye steak or beef tenderloin for a classic match, and also complements rich pasta dishes with a tomato-based sauce or aged cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano.
🥂 This wine is enjoyable now and can hold for at least another five years, with a recommended drinking window until 2028. It should evolve gracefully for 10-12 years and was showing in a sweet spot three years post-vintage (as of recent tastings), with plenty of life ahead. Decanting for 30 minutes is recommended. It is suitable for a dinner party or any special occasion where a powerful and age-worthy Cabernet is desired.
