🏰 From André Goichot, a medium-sized Burgundy negociant founded in 1947 and one of the few to remain family-owned and run, this Corton Grand Cru is a 【powerful expression of Pinot Noir】. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy was one of the warmest on record, marked by early flowering, a hot, dry summer, and historically early harvest dates, yet top domaines crafted whites of astonishing tension and precision. This Corton Grand Cru Rouge is aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 17 months. It's packed with ripe raspberry and cherry fruit, underpinned with notes of gamey spice, iron, and sous bois. When young, the aroma suggests a spring garden with small red and black fruits, which intensify with age and evolve towards peony, jasmine, and candied fruits. It is ripe and focused with an elegant structure.
🍴 Its generous and opulent personality softens firm and fibrous meats, pairing well with marbled meats and brown sauces. This great red wine pairs best with entrecôtes, braised lamb, poultry, duck, goose, and game birds. For cheeses, it's an ideal partner for Epoisses, Ami du Chambertin, and Livarot.
🥂 With its ripe and focused profile and elegant structure, this wine will reward aging. It's a superb choice for a celebratory dinner or a special occasion, offering both immediate pleasure and future complexity.
