FEATURES
🏰 The 2011 vintage in Napa Valley was challenging, marked by heavy downpours in June and generally very cold and damp weather. Growers had to drop a significant amount of crop and constantly battled disease pressure. Despite these difficulties, the best wines from 2011, particularly from hillside vineyards, surprised critics with their aromatic intensity, finesse, balance, and sense of place. Abreu Vineyards, founded by David Abreu, is known for its world-class, cult-status Cabernet Sauvignon blends from distinct single sites, including Cappella, one of the oldest vineyard sites in St. Helena. 【 A testament to masterful winemaking in a challenging Napa vintage 】.
This 2011 Abreu Capella Cabernet Sauvignon, a proprietary red blend that included more Merlot than usual due to the cold growing season, has shown to be elegant, nuanced, and super-classy. It reveals terrific notes of espresso roast, chocolate, forest floor, incense, and blackberry and cassis fruit. This broad, round effort is opulent, fruit-forward, supple, and luscious, with a delicate and smooth texture on the long finish. It's beautifully balanced with soft, well-integrated tannins and is expected to drink well for 10-15 years.
🥂 This wine is an excellent choice for a special occasion, a celebratory dinner, or as a significant addition to a wine collector's cellar. Its complexity and aging potential make it suitable for both immediate enjoyment (with decanting) and long-term cellaring.
🍴 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon pairs exceptionally well with hearty red meats. Consider grilled ribeye, lamb chops with herbs, braised short ribs, or beef tenderloin. Dishes with earthy components like mushrooms (especially portobello or chanterelles) or roasted vegetables can also complement its profile. For a more adventurous pairing, try it with rich Italian cuisine, focusing on meat and mushroom sauces rather than heavy cream or seafood.
