🏰 The 2018 Burgundy vintage was characterized by extremes, with a wet winter and spring followed by a warm, sunny summer, leading to an early harvest. Despite the challenges, the best reds from the Côte de Nuits are outstanding, intense, and voluptuous. Amiot-Servelle's 2018 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru showcases remarkable complexity, with notes of crushed limestone over blackberry and blueberry fruit, beautifully defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, judiciously judged acidity, and a mineral-driven finish. It exhibits bright red fruit with subtle spice and impressive textures, contributing to the wine's brightness and energy. This wine, often somewhat closed in its youth, reveals stony hints and is characterized by restraint and freshness. 【 Skillfully crafted, demonstrating immense purity of fruit with an energetic expression of terroir, garnering critical praise. 】
🥂 This elegant Grand Cru is ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a celebratory meal, or a special occasion where a refined and age-worthy Burgundy is desired. It's a wine that invites contemplation and appreciation.
🍴 This Pinot Noir pairs exquisitely with classic Burgundian fare such as coq au vin or beef bourguignon. It also complements roasted duck, game birds, and delicate mushroom dishes. For a cheese course, consider mild, earthy cheeses like Époisses or Comté.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Amiot Servelle is a leading wine producer based in the village of Chambolle-Musigny in Burgundy's Côte d'Or district, with seven hectares (17 acres) of Pinot Noir vines. This includes vines from six premier vineyards. The company produces a range of wines from the region's top vineyards, including wines from the renowned Les Amoureuses vineyard, dominated by Pinot Noir. The history of the winery can be traced back to the 1920s. The owner's grandfather began planting grape vines in the village, and his parents also founded a winery. The owner himself founded Domaine Amiot-Servelle in 1989.
