FEATURES
🏰 The 2007 vintage in Jura was marked by a cold, dry winter, followed by a hot, dry spring and summer, leading to an exceptional vintage. Pierre Overnoy, and now Emmanuel & Anne Houillon, are renowned for their "natural wine" approach, eschewing sulfur and producing wines bursting with character. This particular wine is a 100% Chardonnay from 50+ year old vines in Arbois Pupillin, aged for 18 months in oak barrels. The white-waxed Chardonnay is typically topped up during its long aging on lees in foudre, often around 4 years. 【 A benchmark natural Chardonnay from Jura, showcasing the unique terroir and Overnoy's legacy 】
The wine has an intense straw yellow color with golden highlights. The nose is complex and intense, offering aromas of white fruit (peach, pear), citrus (lime), white flowers (hawthorn), almond, and honey. Some notes also mention citrus, green apple, cold steel, ozone, curry, walnut oil, and a complex of flowers, yeast, and mushrooms, being both brash and delicate. On the palate, it is powerful, full-bodied, with good acidity and a long, persistent finish. It's fresh and lively, with apple, citrus, and a little nuttiness, light yet intense and long. It can show a style close to Burgundy, with more energy.
🥂 This is an intriguing wine for those who appreciate unique, natural wines with character and complexity. It's suitable for a sophisticated dinner party or a tasting session focused on Jura wines. It can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years.
🍴 For East, consider grilled fish, white meats, poultry (like roast duck), or mushroom dishes. For West, hard cheeses (e.g., Comté), mature and mild soft cheeses, or mushroom risotto.
