🏰 The Alain Verset Cornas 2019 is a Northern Rhône Syrah from a producer known for continuing the legacy of fine old-school winemaking. Alain inherited vines from both his father Louis and uncle, including plots in the esteemed Reynards, Mazards, and Les Côtes crus. The 2019 vintage is described as very lively and fresh, with a complex nose featuring fruity notes of blackberries and cherries, alongside toasted, smoky, and floral nuances. It also carries a touch of balsamic, woody herbs, and a char in the background. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, fresh, and drinkable, marked by the presence of fine, layered, grippy tannins that are ripe and approachable. The wine is whole bunch fermented and matured in a mix of three- to eight-year-old barriques and demi-muids. It offers a savory grip on the mid-palate and a wonderful vibrant violet note underneath its wild and spicy character. 【 A dense and powerful wine with lots of life, showcasing old-school Northern Rhône winemaking 】.
🍴 This Cornas pairs excellently with rich, savory dishes such as grilled red meats, game, or hearty stews. Its spicy and meaty notes would also complement charcuterie.
🥂 Ideal for a dinner with friends or a gathering where a robust and characterful red wine is desired. It's considered suitable for early drinking, with a drinking window suggested from 2021-2025.
