🏰 The 2017 vintage in the Northern Rhône, particularly for Syrah in Cornas, was generally very good, producing wines with ripeness, concentration, and freshness. It was a vintage that allowed for expressive fruit while maintaining the characteristic structure and savory notes of Cornas. Alain Verset is a respected producer known for traditional, authentic expressions of Cornas.
Expect a powerful and intense wine with dark fruit aromas like blackberry and black cherry, complemented by savory notes of black pepper, olive, and smoked meat, along with hints of violet or garrigue. The palate should be full-bodied with firm tannins, a robust structure, and a long, mineral-driven finish, reflecting the granite soils of Cornas. 【A powerful and authentic expression of Cornas Syrah from a very good vintage, showcasing the region's characteristic structure and savory notes.】
🍴 Food pairing suggestions: Grilled red meats, game, lamb tagine, hearty stews, strong cheeses.
🥂 Event suggestions: Ideal for a robust dinner, a gathering of red wine enthusiasts, or a cellar addition for further aging. This wine will benefit from decanting if consumed young, and has excellent aging potential.
