Fontaine Gagnard, Chassagne Montrachet Clos St. Jean Rouge 1er Cru, 2020
🏰 The 2020 Fontaine Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet Clos St. Jean Rouge 1er Cru hails from a 【superb Burgundy vintage, known for extraordinary concentration and balance in reds despite being a warm year】. Yields were low, leading to dense, intense wines. The Clos Saint Jean vineyard, historically rich and once owned by the Abbaye from Saint-Jean-le-Grand, boasts a south-eastern exposure and diverse soil of clay, limestone marls, and pebbles.
This Pinot Noir offers an intense red fruit aroma on the nose, leading to an elegant and delicate palate. Expect a bouquet of 【deep red and black berries, showcasing a powerful body with coated tannins that bring a smooth relief in the mouth】. Some notes describe a punch of fruit, almost a coulis, with a vibrant red fruit cascade and a lurking structure that promises further development.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with classic Burgundian dishes like coq au vin, red meat in fine sauces, duck magret, and roasted pigeon. It would also complement roasted chicken, lighter game dishes, or mushroom-based preparations.
🥂 A sophisticated choice for a dinner party, a special family gathering, or a thoughtful gift for a Burgundy lover. Its elegance and depth make it suitable for occasions that call for a refined red.
