FEATURES
🏰 The 2020 Bernard Gripa Le Berceau Saint-Joseph is the top Saint-Joseph cuvée from Domaine Gripa, crafted from a selection of their oldest Syrah vines planted exclusively on granite soil terraces around Mauves. The Gripa family, with Fabrice Gripa now at the helm, is known for their multi-generational winemaking traditions and meticulous hand-tending of their steep vineyards, often employing organic agricultural methods. The 2020 vintage in the Northern Rhône produced wines with dark and intense black fruits, often firm and brooding. Tasting notes describe a glass-staining ruby color with suave, mineral-accented aromas of cherry liqueur, cassis, and exotic spices, complemented by building floral and mineral notes. On the palate, it is sappy and energetic, showing powerful thrust to its concentrated red and blue fruit preserve, violet pastille, and spicecake flavors. It finishes extremely long, spicy, and smooth, with resonating florality and subtly chewy, well-knit tannins. Other notes mention dark robe, elderberry-blackberry aromas, black olives, and a sunny sweetness, with a cluster of black fruits on the palate and good depth. This wine is built for aging, with a drinking window suggested from 2027-2037. 【 Crafted from a selection of the oldest Syrah vines on granite soil terraces 】
