FEATURES
The 2007 vintage in the Northern Rhône presented challenging conditions with a dry, warm spring and summer rain, but a sunny September ultimately saved the vintage. Despite these challenges, the 2007 Hermitage Rouge is considered a warm vintage that the wine holds well, and an earlier-drinking vintage for Chave, though still possessing significant aging potential.
This spectacular Hermitage boasts a dense purple color and offers a complex aromatic profile of crème de cassis, loamy soil, crushed rocks, and acacia flowers, revealing a rare opulence and a full-bodied style. It is open and complex, with spice and granitic notes, ripe, layered, and supported by supple tannins. Expect alluring notes of fig cake, warm cocoa, plum, blueberry, hoisin sauce, currant reduction, and maduro tobacco, with a muscular yet supervelvety texture. Further tasting reveals red berries and flowers, strong mineral and floral notes, Asian spices, deep cherry compote, blackcurrant, licorice, black cardamom, smoky dark fruit, plums, bacon fat, olive, blackberry, tapenade, and a refreshing mineral streak.
【A monumental expression of Syrah, crafted with Jean-Louis Chave's transcendent blending expertise, offering "controlled grandeur."】 This wine is built for longevity, expected to drink well for 20-25 years, with some suggesting a drinking window from 2025-2040, and even longer with proper cellaring. It is recommended to decant this wine for at least 4 hours before serving to allow its full complexity to unfold.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions: This robust Hermitage Rouge is an excellent partner for hearty dishes. Consider roast leg of lamb or beef (especially braised), roast chicken, and dishes with a cooked tomato element or cassoulet. It also pairs beautifully with grilled beef, lamb, veal, and pork, as well as game, duck, stews, and braised foods. The addition of bacon is a perfect match, and it complements a myriad of hard and soft cheeses.
🥂 Event suggestions: An exceptional wine for a grand celebration, a serious wine tasting, or a memorable dinner featuring robust and flavorful dishes. Its complexity and aging potential make it a true collector's item.
