🏰 The 2017 Anne Gros Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 'Le Grand Maupertui' is a 【deep, velvet-hued Grand Cru with a core of black cherry and plum accented by pepper, clove, and nutmeg, plus a subtle stony undertone】. This vintage balances generosity with freshness, offering early approachability while retaining the structure to evolve well over the coming decade. Critics note its impressive fullness, power tempered by ripe tannins, and a harmonious, elegant character. The 2017 vintage in Burgundy was generally well-regarded, producing wines with purity, charm, and finesse. This particular wine is endowed with more fruit intensity and presence on the nose, offering vigorous raspberry and crushed strawberry scents, superb minerality, and hints of orange blossom.
🍴 This powerful Pinot Noir is an excellent match for richer dishes such as roasted red meat with berries or fruit, red meat in sauce, or game with sorrel. It also pairs well with aged local French cheeses, charcuterie, or pork sausages with herbs. For an Asian pairing, consider Cantonese roasted goose or a rich mushroom hotpot.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion, or as a centerpiece for a Burgundy tasting. Its excellent aging potential also makes it a superb addition to any cellar for enjoyment in the coming years.
