The 2014 vintage in Stellenbosch saw harvesting from mid-February to the end of March, with extreme care taken to pick only healthy grapes. This wine announces vanilla and nutmeg spice before a flood of dark berries, cooked plums, and blackcurrants assail the palate. Dark chocolate and hints of smoke are supported by sturdy, smooth tannins and an endless finish. It has the potential to mature over a five to ten-year period and will only get better with time. The blend includes 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 12% Shiraz, 12% Petit Verdot, 10% Malbec, and 6% Shiraz, matured in new and second-fill French oak barrels for 20 months.
