🏰 The 2021 Chateau Pontet-Canet is a biodynamically farmed Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac, a testament to the estate's resilience in a challenging vintage, offering 【finesse over power with vibrant fruit, graphite minerality, and graceful structure】. This singular Bordeaux blend showcases notes of blackberry, blueberry, cedar, and spices, with a creamy, spicy palate and fine, powdery tannins that promise excellent aging potential.
🍴 This impressive Grand Cru Classé pairs beautifully with classic meat dishes such as roast lamb, grilled ribeye, duck breast, or truffle dishes. It also complements Asian dishes, rich fish like tuna, mushrooms, pasta, and a variety of hard and soft cheeses.
🥂 A truly impressive and age-worthy Grand Cru Classé, ideal for significant milestones, serious wine collectors, and gourmet dining experiences. Its complexity and structure demand attention, making it perfect for a celebratory meal or a long-term cellar investment. If enjoying young, decanting for 1-2 hours is recommended to allow its full expression. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 15.5°C (60°F).
BACKGROUND
Château Pontet-Canet is a wine estate located in the Pauillac region and ranked as a fifth growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The 81-hectare (200-acre) vineyard is located at the heart of the Pauillac appellation, just south of châteaux Mouton Rothschild and d'Armailhac. The soil is made up of Garonne gravel on limestone bedrock and is warm and well-drained, providing perfect conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, which accounts for 62 percent of plantings. Merlot makes up 32 percent of the rest, and there are small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot as well. Viticulture is certified organic and biodynamic and in recent years a team of working horses have been introduced.
