🏰 Arnaud Ente's 2000 Meursault Vieilles Vignes is a 【highly acclaimed and sought-after expression from old vines】, representing a vintage generally considered very good to excellent for white Burgundy. The 2000 vintage in Burgundy was marked by favorable weather, producing ripe, concentrated grapes with good acidity, charming even in their youth. This 'Vieilles Vignes' (old vines) Meursault is known for its rich, buttery flavor and aroma, with notes of toasted nuts, vanilla, and honey. On the palate, it is rich, almost fat and round, with a toasted nutty flavor of almonds and hazelnuts, and a full-bodied, creamy texture leading to a long, smooth finish.
🍴 This mature Meursault is a fantastic match for grilled lobster, king prawns in garlic butter sauce, or poultry and veal with white cream sauces. It also pairs beautifully with blue cheese, soft to semi-hard cheeses like Brie or Gruyere, and dishes featuring mushrooms, truffles, or saffron in creamy sauces.
🥂 An exquisite choice for a special occasion, a luxurious dinner, or for white Burgundy collectors. At 26 years old, this wine should be showing beautiful maturity with developed tertiary notes. Expect a golden color and complex nutty, honeyed, and possibly smoky aromas. It's advisable to check the cork condition carefully. A short decant (30 minutes) can help it open up and fully express its aged complexity. Serve at 12-14°C (54-57°F).
BACKGROUND
Arnaud Ente, located in Burgundy, France, spans just under five hectares of vineyards, with no Grand Cru plots. Over 80% of the land is designated as Bourgogne or Village level. When it comes to grape harvesting, Ente prefers an early harvest to preserve natural acidity and enhance minerality, thus elevating the wine's complexity and depth.
