🏰 【An elegant and structured Beaune Grèves 1er Cru from Domaine Jacques Prieur, this 2012 Pinot Noir offers a refined bouquet of red fruits, spice, and earthy notes, with a firm yet silky palate destined for graceful aging.】 The 2012 Domaine Jacques Prieur Beaune Grèves 1er Cru (Pinot Noir) presents a refined and complex nose with notes of red raspberry, black cherry, and poached plum, often complemented by hints of roasting, smoke, and cinnamon. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with supple tannins, vibrant acidity, and a firm, serious, yet elegant structure. The clay-limestone soils with small pebbles contribute to its elegance and fruit expression.
🍴 This classic red Burgundy is an excellent pairing for roast duck, goose, game birds, or fine cuts of beef.
🥂 This wine needs aging to fully express its potential, with critics suggesting it will be best from 2029 onwards, making it a superb addition to a cellar for future enjoyment.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, France. The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Domaine Jacques Priuer.
