FEATURES
🏰 Domaine de la Mordorée is a celebrated, organic and biodynamic winery in the Southern Rhône, and their "La Reine des Bois" (Queen of the Woods) Lirac is 【a reference point for the appellation, often besting many top Châteauneuf du Pape wines.】 The 2009 vintage was highly rated, offering a dense purple, medium to full-bodied red wine with loads of kirsch, black currant, and crushed rock notes, along with a hint of spring flowers. It's ripe but very pure, exhibiting a beautiful mix of damson plum, linzer torte, and blackberry fruit, laced with alluring notes of black tea and iron. Expect black cherry fruit balanced with cedar and vanilla, a rich yet supple texture, and a long finish. Aromas of plums, meat stew, blackberries, Provençal herbs, and pepper, with a strong body and salty minerality, contribute to its complex profile.
🍴 This versatile red pairs wonderfully with a wide variety of foods, including casseroles, pizza, or grilled dishes. It's an excellent match for red meats, grilled meats, game, and cheeses, specifically grilled meats, sauce meats, game birds, game rabbits, and semi-mature cheeses. Also consider Albondigas, Aligot de Laguiole, Ballotine, barbecued beef hamburger, grilled lamb shoulder, or marinated chicken.
🥂 An excellent choice for a hearty family dinner, a barbecue with friends, or a gathering where a robust and flavorful red wine is desired. Serve around 13-14°C (55-57°F). Decanting is a must, especially for a wine of this age, and it improves after 2-3 hours in a decanter, bringing out more sweet fruit and better balance. As a 17-year-old wine, expect evolved flavors and be mindful of the cork and capsule.
