De La Vougeraie, Charmes Chambertin Aux Mazoyeres Grand Cru, 2020
🏰news | features + short tasting note IN ENGLISH
【From 105-year-old vines, this 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru "Les Mazoyères" is a powerful and ageworthy effort, showcasing remarkable aromatic complexity and a long, austere finish.】 The 2020 vintage was promising, yielding balanced wines with excellent aging potential, and this particular cuvée escaped frost and did not require sorting. This Grand Cru displays a bright, luminous, and vibrant purple color. It offers remarkable aromatic complexity, blending notes of red fruit (raspberry, wild strawberry) and black fruit (blackberry, black plum), with mineral nuances of pencil lead and white stone, and floral touches of peony and violet. Spicy accents of black pepper and cinnamon, along with subtle notes of forest floor and moss, complete the bouquet. On the palate, it has a velvety texture, firm yet refined tannins, and a saline and mineral finish. It presents intense and impressively dense, broad-shouldered flavors with an abundance of sappy dry extract.
