🏰 The 2019 vintage in South Africa was characterized by a low yield, yet the quality was largely high. A milder winter with heavy rains helped replenish water tables, though an early budbreak followed by a cold snap led to unevenness. Despite fluctuating spring weather and challenges with ripening, winemakers were positive about the quality, noting that smaller berries resulted in a greater concentration of flavours, good acidity, sugar, and elegance. Swartberg Wingerde's Miracle Bush Red 2019 is a characterful blend of Grenache Noir, Syrah, and Pinotage from old bush vines in the rugged Piekenierskloof. It pours a deep, luminous ruby hue, more vibrant than heavy. The nose is immediately expressive, with an intense, spicy perfume of cracked black pepper, violets, red cherries, and raspberries, layered with hints of wild herbs and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and beautifully poised, offering a velvety texture, juicy fruit, and silky tannins. Fresh red fruit—cranberries, pomegranate, and tart cherries—is wrapped around a core of spice and savoury depth, framed by lively acidity, leading to a long, precise, and mineral finish. 【 A masterpiece of blending Grenache, Syrah, and Pinotage from old bush vines in Piekenierskloof, showcasing concentrated flavors and elegance. 】
🍴 This elegant, spicy red is a versatile partner at the table. It pairs beautifully with grilled lamb chops, herb-crusted pork, charcuterie, game birds, or dishes featuring North African spices such as lamb tagine or roasted vegetables with cumin and coriander. It also works well with mushroom-based dishes, roasted beetroot salads, and mature semi-hard cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for a casual braai (barbecue), a dinner with friends exploring new world wines, or a relaxed evening with hearty, flavourful food.
