De La Vougeraie, Gevrey Chambertin La Justice, 2020
🏰 The 2020 Domaine de la Vougeraie Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice is a 【thrilling red Burgundy from a vintage that Domaine de la Vougeraie is particularly enthusiastic about】. The 2020 harvest, which began in mid-August, produced wines with plenty of color and depth, with some whole clusters retained during fermentation to enhance complexity. This wine has received a solid 90 points from Burghound, affirming its quality and potential.
🍴 This Gevrey-Chambertin offers a nose of 【discreet wood, black cherry, violet, and subtle earth wisps】. The palate is rich, solidly concentrated, and delicious, brimming with black cherry and blackberry fruit, complemented by notes of licorice and red roses. You'll also find floral and bright cherry, blueberry, and blackberry flavors framed by sandalwood and toasty oak elements, with macerated plum and cherry enhanced by spice and licorice. Community reviews also highlight mushroom, earthy, leather, and very savory red fruit (cherry) notes, with good acidity and a soft touch.
🥂 A very tasty wine with fine depth, this is suitable for a special dinner or for cellaring to allow further development. It's expected to be drinkable until 2036, making it a great addition to any collection for enjoyment over the coming years. It pairs wonderfully with veal and game meats like deer and venison.
Serving: Serve at a classic cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F), to allow its nuanced aromas and flavors to fully express themselves.
BACKGROUND
Domaine de la Vougeraie is an estate formed by the merger of multiple vineyard assets acquired by the Boisset family in the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. One of the newer wineries in Burgundy, the first vintage produced was 1999. The winery is located in the village of Premo between Côte de Nuits, which is dominated by Pinot Noir, and Côte de Beaune, which is dominated by Chardonnay. It owns land in 6 Grand Crus, 8 Premier Crus and 11 rural appellations. Among them, the white wine produced by the small venue adjacent to Clos de Vougeot is very popular in Burgundy.
