【A masterpiece of nature and man, this 2015 Domaine de l'Arlot Romanée Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is a rare and profound experience, demanding patience for its full expression.】 The 2015 vintage in Burgundy was notably precocious, characterized by warm spring temperatures and intense heat in mid-July, followed by much-needed August rainfall. This resulted in excellent grape health and phenolic maturity, though yields were below average at 24 hl/ha. The vineyard itself is exceptionally situated, merely a road away from the esteemed Romanée-Conti, boasting a rich clay and limestone soil that contributes to its grandeur. Aged for 15 months in wooden barrels with a moderate 30-50% new oak, and bottled after 18 months, this wine is built for longevity. It presents a bright ruby color with an intense, sensual, floral, and spiced bouquet. Expect radiant notes of black cherries, raspberry jelly, blackberry cordial, and violets, which will evolve into complex hints of undergrowth and leather with age. The palate is silky yet intense, offering an ultra-refined impression and a hugely long, firmly structured finish. Hugely concentrated with outstanding energy, its black fruit flavors are intricately woven with licorice, brown spices, and bitter chocolate. This wine requires a minimum of 8 to 10 years of cellaring to truly blossom, and will reward those who wait even longer.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing various types of suggestion east or west corresponding to wine cost IN ENGLISH
This majestic Grand Cru calls for equally refined pairings. Consider a classic Cantonese roasted goose with plum sauce, or a delicate steamed garoupa with ginger and spring onion, allowing the wine's elegance to shine. For a Western touch, a pan-seared duck breast with a cherry reduction, or a truffle-infused beef fillet would be sublime. In autumn, a rich hare "à la royale" would create a perfect harmony.
